Blog Tour: Home to Whiskey Creek by Brenda Novak

Welcome to Day 4 of my Blog Tour!

So far, you should have three gold mining implements, which you found on my previous blog visits, as well as three names—the names of the characters featured each day. Anyone with a perfect score at the end of my 10-day tour will receive a Whiskey Creek package,* so don’t miss the fun. Visit www.brendanovak for directions, a scorecard and details on the prize.

One of my favorite movies of all time is A WALK TO REMEMBER. It’s a movie I could watch over and over. Not only is the love story poignant, the way the two main characters change each other’s lives is uplifting. That film definitely inspired me when I was writing WHEN SUMMER COMES (only I wasn’t too excited about the girl dying in the end so I knew from the outset that mine would not go that way).

When Callie Vanetta receives the devastating news that she needs a liver transplant, she also learns that the chances of getting one aren’t good. She’s waiting and hoping but, determined to spend whatever time she has left on her own terms, she moves out to her late grandparents’ farm. She’s always wanted to live there. But the farm hasn’t been worked in years and she begins to fear she can’t manage it, that she’ll have to return to town. Then a stranger comes knocking at her door. He’s an attractive and mysterious drifter by the name of Levi McCloud, and he offers to trade work for a few nights’ shelter.

Callie figures she doesn’t have anything to lose.  He needs a place to stay until he can fix his motorcycle; she needs an extra pair of hands. The arrangement seems ideal until what was supposed to be temporary starts to look more and more permanent. Then she realizes she does have something to lose—her heart. And, although he doesn’t know it, Levi stands to lose even more.

If you’d like to read, WHEN SUMMER COMES, you can order it at any bookstore or online at:

Home to Whiskey Creek
by Brenda Novak
4th in a series
Sometimes home is the refuge you need—and sometimes it isn't...
Adelaide Davies, who's been living in Sacramento, returns to Whiskey Creek, the place she once called home. She's there to take care of her aging grandmother and to help with Gran's restaurant, Just Like Mom's. But Adelaide isn't happy to be back. There are too many people here she'd rather avoid, people who were involved in that terrible June night fifteen years ago.
Ever since the graduation party that changed her life, she's wanted to go to the police and make sure the boys responsible—men now—are punished. But she can't, not without revealing an even darker secret. So it's better to pretend….
Noah Rackham, popular, attractive, successful, is shocked when Adelaide won't have anything to do with him. He has no idea that his very presence reminds her of something she'd rather forget. He only knows that he's finally met a woman he could love.

  2. Ooh, there's just something about a mysterious stranger, isn't there? (I mean, when there's no chance he's going to murder you in your sleep and steal your silver.)

  3. Well I'm super excited to know her character isn't going to die in the end! That's definitely something I would have loved to have changed about A Walk to Remember, I'm an HEA girl all the way!

And Mary's comment made me snort:)

    1. Jenny, I feel the same, which is why I write romance. Every story must have its HEA!

  7. I had to go Google A Walk to Remember because I couldn't remember it, and I concluded that a) I haven't seen it and b) I probably should right away.
I love these small town series so I should definitely give it a chance, starting with the first book.

    1. Maja, the first book in the series is only $1.99 on Kindle through September, so the price is certainly right. I hope you enjoy the series. And definitely see A WALK TO REMEMBER. It's one of my favorite movies--I can watch it over and over.

  10. I didn't watch a Walk to Remember because it would make me cry. I just hope the book doesn't make me cry! :) However, since you promise me it wouldn't go that way, I think I can deal with some tears along the way. :) Sounds like a great book!

  11. I've seen A Walk To Remember. It was a good movie, and the soundtrack is one of my favorite albums! I agree with your thoughts on the ending. I read the book as well, and while I thought they were good, the endings kind of ruined it for me. I tried to read some other Nicholas Sparks stuff, and always found the same thing happening, so I don't read those anymore. They just don't suit me.

I think I'm going to go throw on the Walk To Remember Soundtrack now. Thanks for reminding me about it! It's been awhile since I've listened to it.

And thank you for this blog tour. It's a lot of fun! Although, I must admit, today's mining word might be do me in. I've been staring at this blog all day, but I'm bound and determined. :)

  12. I know Novak is insanely popular but I've never read anything by her before. I'll have to remedy that soon.

    P.S. You've redecorated the blog - love it :-)

  14. A Walk to Remember is good but the Notebook is better:) I have heard such amazing things about this series and I haven't read it yet. I believe, I will have to double check, that I just received the Christmas book for review.

  15. Yeah, I prefer HEA's! I need a good romance every once in awhile, but I have got to have my HEA! This one sounds incredibly intriguing. I already need to know what secret she's covering up!!
