The Darkest Edge of Dawn by Kelly Gay Blog Tour

The Darkest Edge of Dawn (Charlie Madigan, Book 2)From Goodreads:
It takes a strong woman to keep the peace in a city of endless night. . . .
Deep beneath Underground, a cunning bid for power and revenge has begun—one that threatens to make Atlanta the new battleground in the ultimate confrontation between good and evil. The powers of hellish Charbydon have the upper hand after plunging the city into primordial night. And under the cover of darkness, a serial killer targets the most powerful Elysians in the city, the angelic Adonai. For Detective Charlie Madigan and her siren partner Hank, tracking deadly predators is all in a day’s work . . . but this case will test the limits of their strength and friendship as it draws them into a deadly world of power plays, ancient myths, explosive secrets, and a race against time that risks all that Charlie holds dear.

I have to say that I really enjoyed the second installment of Charlie Madigan's story. Not only does the cover rock but so does the action. The first book, The Better Part of Darkness I recently reviewed, we were first introduced to Charlie, her family and friends as well as her enemies. These characters are back in non-stop action which doesn't let up until the last few pages of the book. Plus, what is great is that it does open things up for another book in this series without leaving you with a cliffhanger. Oh, and I so do want to read more in this series.

What I also liked is that we get to know a bit more about her yummy Siren partner, Hank. Just with them exploring their relationship as friends and surprisingly and hopefully more (okay, I'm hoping for more) you find times of humor and a little bit of sexy tension. Their relationship can only get more complicated and more interesting as the series goes on.

I also HAVE to mention the hellhound, Brimstone. Since I'm someone who clearly loves large dogs I couldn't help rooting for the sweet slobbery dangerous hellhound we found at the end of the first book. He reminds me of a misunderstood pit bull. Loveable and loyal to the family, but protective until the end. Oh, and note to my dogs: relax... I'm not getting a hellhound. ;)

I give this book 5 stars. You will be on a fast and dark ride from page one until the end. Can't wait for the next installment.

  3. I agree that the covers in this series are pretty awesome, not to mention the titles (whoever is coming up with thme is doing a great job. If it's the author, kudos as they are very memorable). I want a hellhound, too!

  4. It's also a great UF read. So the stuff inbetween the covers is pretty good too. ;)

If I find a Hellhound breeder, I'll let you know. We can adopt together.

*looks at dogs* Hey, stop giving me that angry stare!

  5. I have been wanting to read the first book since it came out. I won this one on Twitter and bought the first one. Then a another blog I have been following, Spinecracker, is going to do a discussion on the first book at the beginning of October. So I am all set. :)

So glad you enjoyed this book. I know I am going to love them now. ;)
