Darkness Dawns by Dianne Duvall

Darkness Dawns (Immortal Guardians)TBP: TODAY!
From Goodreads:
In this dazzling, sensual novel, Dianne Duvall beckons readers into a world of vampires, immortals, and humans with extraordinary gifts. . .where passion can last forever, if you're willing to pay the price. . .
Once, Sarah Bingham's biggest challenge was making her students pay attention in class. Now, after rescuing a wounded stranger, she's landed in the middle of a battle between corrupt vampires and powerful immortals who also need blood to survive. Roland Warbrook is the most compelling man Sarah has ever laid hands on. But his desire for her is mingled with a hunger he can barely control. . .
In his nine centuries of immortal existence, no woman has tempted Roland as much as Sarah. But asking her to love him is impossible--when it means forfeiting the world she's always known, and the life he would do anything to protect. . .
Well, if you follow this blog... or at least the book boyfriend meme on this blog, you can already guess that I enjoyed this book. Fine... I'll just say it... it's a good PNR! Now on to the review:

Ah yes... Roland, one who was thought to be anti-social and a royal pain in the.. uh... hiney is very swoon worthy! He "meets" a young music teacher, Sarah who is strong, independent and a bit weary of others herself. Roland finds himself wanting to protect the young mortal from danger he feels he brought upon her and as the danger progresses she finds out exactly what he is. Now the question becomes is if they both can trust one another to find out what is sparking between the two.

Some may find the relationship between Roland and Sarah a bit fast. However, I found it completely refreshing. There was not a frustrating amount of me yelling at the book saying... "Tell HER!" or "Tell HIM!" when it came to any secrets. They both laid their souls bare and dealt with the consequences. This is probably one of the reasons I forgave Sarah for stealing my book boyfriend. She also gave as good or better than she received even when some things were hard for each other to understand.

I'm not going to say much more because I'd be tempted to completely spoil the book and I won't!
Prepare for it...
*evil laugh*
Hey, I knew I needed to give you one or you would have exploded waiting for it. ;) I give this book 5 stars and I flew through the book. I can't wait for the next in the Immortal Guardian series! If you love PNR, you will enjoy this book. Can I have the next one now? Seriously, can I? *bats eyelashes*

Oh and on Feb. 10th come back and Dianne will have a blog post and giveaway! *squee!*

I received this book from the author and no compensation for my review was given.

  1. Right. A romance. Well, maybe in the future. It sounded not bad at all but somehow right now a romance is the least enticing genre to me.

  2. Looks good! I'll have to check it out.

  3. Whoa, 5 stars from you?! MUST HAVE IT IMMEDIATELY! I have to say I would find the fact that they both just lay their souls bare refreshing as well, sometimes I tire of the not-wanting to-admit-feelings multipage dance that happens so often in PNR. Definitely going to be reading this one, thanks Melissa!

  4. OMG! Look at you all pretty in pink!

LOVE the new look, and yest, I see the new header and who is sitting next to you, reading a book no less! WOW. If your baby can read, then he definitely deserves all the liver treats you can bake.

Sometimes I prefer a faster romance than one that frustrates the heck out of me because the couple won't admit to their feelings. Sounds like a fun series, and I'm glad you are enjoying it so much.

  5. 5 stars? Wow! I might have to give it a shot. Glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for the recommendation!

  6. @anachronist... perhaps when you are in the mood. Then I would suggest this one. :)
@Caitlin... do! I think it is on a good sale right now at amazon for the kindle (if you have one).
@Jenny... can't wait to see if you loved it like I did!
@Missie... pup has been there for a bit. It was a small addition and so I can see why you missed him. ;) I think you will enjoy this PNR. Oh, and liver stinks when you have to bake it. :P
    @Natalie... I think you'd like it too!

  7. Anti-social and a pain in the butt?!?
Sounds like my kind of guy!
I will have to check this out! Thanks for the great review Melissa!

  8. Evil laugh, oh you are wicked, so wicked!
He sounds so good, the book sounds good, and I am so curious

  9. Sorry - can't stop staring at those abs. Where can I get one of those? Don't mind if he's antisocial; then we'd be two of a pair!

  10. Goodness Gracious...how do you not get hot and bothered just looking at these covers....hmmmm I think Id like to see him under some covers.....AHHHH I mean...Id like to see his chest on my husbands chest....;o

  11. This book sounds fabulous...and that cover kills me...so hot! Great review, Melissa! :)

  12. Oooo, nice review... Nice characters. ;D Sounds like a great fun read and I love when I get into the characters wanting them to tell what it is they know. :) Thanks!

  13. @Avery do check it out!
@Blodeuedd... hee hee.. you needs it! :)
@Stephanie, Tina and Melissa (swims)... hey, step away from my book boyfriend! ;)
@Melissa (my world)..I think you will enjoy this one. The characters do rock.

  14. I just ordered this on a whim lol, saw the cover and the blurb sounded great and I just clicked and poof its there can't wait to read it now.

I don't normally whim buy but something about this book.
