My submission this week:

Legend (Legend #1)
by Marie Lu
What was once the western United States is now home to the Republic, a nation perpetually at war with its neighbors. Born into an elite family in one of the Republic’s wealthiest districts, fifteen-year-old June is a prodigy being groomed for success in the Republic’s highest military circles. Born into the slums, fifteen-year-old Day is the country’s most wanted criminal. But his motives may not be as malicious as they seem.
From very different worlds, June and Day have no reason to cross paths—until the day June’s brother, Metias, is murdered and Day becomes the prime suspect. Caught in the ultimate game of cat and mouse, Day is in a race for his family’s survival, while June seeks to avenge Metias’s death. But in a shocking turn of events, the two uncover the truth of what has really brought them together, and the sinister lengths their country will go to keep its secrets.
Full of nonstop action, suspense, and romance, this novel is sure to move readers as much as it thrills.
...and...

Prodigy (Legend #2)
by Marie Lu
June and Day arrive in Vegas just as the unthinkable happens: the Elector Primo dies, and his son Anden takes his place. With the Republic edging closer to chaos, the two join a group of Patriot rebels eager to help Day rescue his brother and offer passage to the Colonies. They have only one request—June and Day must assassinate the new Elector.
It’s their chance to change the nation, to give voice to a people silenced for too long.

But as June realizes this Elector is nothing like his father, she’s haunted by the choice ahead. What if Anden is a new beginning? What if revolution must be more than loss and vengeance, anger and blood—what if the Patriots are wrong?

In this highly-anticipated sequel, Lu delivers a breathtaking thriller with high stakes and cinematic action.
I won both of these books... first, Prodigy from Tumbling Books and second from Mel at Mel's Random Reviews. No one has ever accused me of winning things in order. :)

Any "winning" books still on your tbr?

  1. That's pretty lucky to win both of them! Those are on my TBR, but then again, what isn't on my TBR. I need to become immortal really so I can read everything on my TBR list. And if it could come with a fat cushy bank account I could buy all those books too, and then if whatever I become I could be superfast! Well that would be a huge plus! Do you know where I can go for those things???? Immortal, wealthy, super speed.

  2. I so rarely win anything, it's not even funny. (Maybe my luck is saving up so I'll win the lottery! Dare to dream...) Still, congrats on the win -- great series! I like the action and the characters.

    1. Oh... play the lotto!! :) Although I've always worried that if I would win the lotto, I would get hit by lighting. You know... odds and all. :)

  3. Hows that for coincidence, the last blog I visited also featured Legend. Seemingly a good read I've yet to hear anything negative said about it, I'm looking forward to reading your thoughts on it.

    1. There are no coincidences. You have been told to read it and it was an order by the universe. ;) J/K

    1. Na, you got to go to BEA so win right there! Besides there is nothing wrong with you that extra time to read wouldn't fix (like the rest of us... LOL)

  7. Uh yeah. I have a stack of books that I won and haven't read yet! Let's not go there. I want to read this series but I hear it has cliffhangers so I will likely wait!

  9. Ahh, yes, people seem to really love this one. I thought the first one was just mediocre, and the second one annoyed me before I hit the 20% mart, but I knew immediately it was my fault, not the book's.
I hope you'll have better luck with it.

  10. Oh yes, I always feel bad when I win things, or are gifted things, and I can't read them right away. I liked Legend, though I didn't LOVE it. I have Prodigy and hope to read it real soon.

  12. So awesome that you won two series books separately! Can't wait to hear what you think of them. I really liked Legend, and loved Prodigy. Definitely one of those sequels that outdoes its first book (so many of them this year!)
