As you can tell by my book boyfriend... Aiden the Fierce captured my interest. Declan the Magistar however, did not. Declan is Aiden reincarnated but he is very different from Aiden. In fact, I'd say I hated the guy. He was cruel, deceptive, pitiful, angry, and hateful. Yet Regin still felt a pull to him. Even she was surprised at how much she still felt for him after meeting this incarnation. Regin, while the captive of Declan and the Order bent on destroying all immortals in the Lore, becomes torn between wanting Declan to remember who she is to save everyone and not wanting him to remember which leads to his doom. However, within the facility Regin witnesses and experiences horrors even she couldn't have thought of and decides that Declan should be doomed or actually destroyed. Ah, but we all know this is a paranormal romance so how can these two come back together? Is it possible?

Well, you know by now that I'm not going to answer the question of how for you. However, I admit I was shocked that Declan could recapture my heart let alone Regin's. Regin finds that things that were missing in Aiden were not missing in Declan. I even ended up liking Declan better than Aiden! In fact this whole story, in the end, became a sort of beauty and the beast tale.  Probably one of my favorite tales of all time. So, I give this book 5 stars! I have not read books in this series before this one and it isn't necessary to enjoy this book. However, I will remedy this as I need to read the other 10 books before this one. Ms. Kresley Cole has a new fan in me! Seriously, if you haven't read one of her books, do pick up this one.

Their solution for the pixie problem in the last book haunts Zara. She's a pacifist who still lives in a world of good/bad, black/white with very little grey. Even though her world had opened to possibilities she never knew were possible she tries to cling to that old naive view. As the danger grows so does the band of 4 friends. This is part of the story I really did enjoy. They questioned and grew in understanding of themselves and the world around them. Zara learns that on occasion, violence, as abhorrent as it still is to her, might be necessary to save the one's you love. 


Zara is still my favorite character and her boyfriend, Nick also became a favorite of mine since his character became more developed in this story. I also just loved this story more than the first. The writing is wonderful and any criticisms I had in the last book vanish with this one. I also love the way each chapter is introduced. The last book, each chapter was introduced by a phobia. This one, it is a sentence or phrase from the "How to Survive a Pixie Attack" the group was putting together. My only major warning for this book is that it is a cliff hanger. I think I would have preferred it as a 800 page book instead of a cliffhanger, but you can't get everything you want. :) I can't wait for the next book and in the meantime, I give this book 5 stars!! This is the best book in this series... so far. ;)
