"These violent delights have violent ends And in their triumph die, like fire and powder, Which as they kiss consume."
—Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare
The most tragic love story in history . . .
Juliet Capulet didn't take her own life. She was murdered by the person she trusted most, her new husband, Romeo Montague, a sacrifice made to ensure his own immortality. But what Romeo didn't anticipate was that Juliet would be granted eternity, as well, and would become an agent for the Ambassadors of Light. For 700 years, she's fought Romeo for the souls of true lovers, struggling to preserve romantic love and the lives of the innocent. Until the day she meets someone she's forbidden to love, and Romeo, oh Romeo, will do everything in his power to destroy that love.
So, what is on your Shakespearean retelling wishlist?
Ooo, Shakespeare characters with supernatural twist - me likey! :)
ReplyDeleteWow! How did I not hear of this book? I love retellings.
ReplyDeleteI really love the idea of this kickass Juliet. But the cover doesn't match the awesome premise. The figure looks like the lovelorn girl of the play.
ReplyDeleteGreat minds think alike :-)
ReplyDeleteThis is on my wishlist this week too.
Happy reading :-)
I so excited about this book. What a fun thing to do with the romantic tradition!
ReplyDeleteIt does sound nice but I am not sure about the whole Romeo is bad angle :(
ReplyDeleteThis sounds really good!
ReplyDeleteOooh, I like this one! I'd like it if there was a twist and Romeo was redeemed, but I can live with him being a bad guy. This is definitely going on my wishlist.
