He never saw her coming…Mmmmm... another smexy man in this series. A series that doesn't really have to be read in order, but trust me... you don't want to miss one of these smexy, caring, alpha, hot (oh insert more smexy pronouns here) men! All of the previous were introduced into my harem (Proof: Dare, Trace, and Jackson) and Spenser Lark also has a spot saved for him.
Spencer Lark already knows too many secrets about Arizona Storm, including the nightmare she survived and her resulting trust issues. But in order to expose a smuggling ring—and continue avenging his own tragic past—the bounty hunter reluctantly agrees to make Arizona a decoy. Yet nothing has equipped him for her hypnotic blend of fragility and bravery, or for the protective instincts she stirs in him.
Arizona wants to reclaim her life, which means acting as bait to lure the enemy into a trap. Sure it's dangerous, especially with a partner as distractingly appealing as Spencer. But as their plan—and their chemistry—shifts into high gear, Arizona may discover there's an even greater risk in surrendering her heart to a hero…
Now, even though I was happy to be introduced to Spencer, I have to admit, the one I really wanted to meet was Arizona. She was a curiosity to me. She survived such horrific circumstances and yet was strong and still wanted to help as many people as possible. Yes, this is a woman I wanted to know.
We find that both characters have some personal blocks in their past that wasn't allowing them to live a full life. In Spencer's case it was a wife that he dearly loved, but could not save. Now he has met the one woman who refuses to be saved and constantly puts herself in danger to save others. Together they learn to open up to each other. What I loved was not the healing that Arizona had by being with Spencer but the healing that Spencer found with Arizona. It was unexpected to him and that made it just feel more true.
I give this book 4 1/2 stars. I throughly enjoyed both characters and this was a wonderful addition to this series. I recommend all these books for anyone who loves a action filled romance.
I received this eARC from Harlequin and NetGalley. No compensation for my review was given.
Nice review, I really love strong heroines in my books.
ReplyDeleteIntrigued by Arizona, I'll keep an eye out for this.
ReplyDeleteI am reading this one next week! Can't wait :)
ReplyDeleteOh and like you I am more interested in Arizona---she has a fantastic lead in story.
DeleteYou will LOVE this one! :)
DeleteEEEEP!!! I am so looking forward to reading this book. I've been waiting for it for a year now! Like you, I've been so curious about Arizona. And this totally hooked me: "What I loved was not the healing that Arizona had by being with Spencer but the healing that Spencer found with Arizona."
ReplyDeleteWOW!!!
Oh then you will love this one. I know you'll enjoy Arizona. :D
DeleteArizona sounds like an interesting person. It must be great to learn more about her. I haven't read this series yet, but I'll try if I can. Thanks for the review.
ReplyDeleteSo excited for this book! I really enjoy this series, all the men are delicious and Arizona definitely piqued my curiosity in the last book so I'm really looking forward to her! And Spencer of course. Can't forget him:) Glad to see you loved it so much Melissa!
ReplyDeleteGreat review! I have heard loads about these books and I so need to read them :)
ReplyDeleteI saw the name of the series and thought "yes, please!" I know you said they don't have to be read in order, but I don't think I can start on 4... even though the cover it telling me to! I need more smexy men in my fiction - getting tired of the YA guys.
ReplyDeleteIt's better to start with the first one. Each one is it's own story, but it does build on the others. It's not totally necessary is all. :D
DeleteI really need to read more books like this one :) More suspense in my romance
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like Arizona was a fascinating character that did not get enough scenes or explication in the book - but with that hawt guy on the cover, that’s understandable.
ReplyDeleteOh no... she dominates the book. It's just that it seemed that even the author was wanting to meet Spencer, but I really wanted to meet her. Got my wish with this book. She was the most interesting heroine of all the books.
DeleteMmmm, nice sounding. And if that is Spencer on the cover, well yum. ;D Thanks for the review and so glad you enjoyed it!
ReplyDeleteLovely review, I'll add this series to my wishlist.
