Sweet Baby Boy

I know this is a holiday pic, but it really does capture my boy. He was a sweetheart and always wanted to be kissed or just give kisses. And yea... he loved the ladies.

I have been absent but if you haven't guessed why, I did lose my boy not too long after announcing he had kidney failure. We found out why. He had osteosarcoma. He must have been hiding more pain than I realized and it took him quickly. He died in my arms with the help of his thoughtful vet (he helped me at home so I didn't have to transport him to have it done). I still have tears in my eyes writing this and I miss him terribly. Monster pup also looked a bit lost without him.

While this went on I had two more losses in my family. So, obviously I needed a break.

I will have a few reviews to post and I also wanted to upkeep the craft posts.

I did have some good things happen as well. Monster pup has a new sister. Found her through a rescue group. It happened a bit sooner than I expected, but I really needed something positive. She did help with the grief.
She was pregnant and in a high kill shelter. She was picked up by the rescue and she traveled to my state. She lost half her babies and I think (by the vet reports I got) was probably neglected. She was pretty shut down when I got her but with monster pup's help she has blossomed and has assumed he role as princess of the house. I guess I'll dub her princess legs. LOL She is a dog my boy would have approved and my mom is convinced he sent her our way.

  4. I am so sorry for all your loses! Pets really are a part of the family. So happy you were able to help rescue another dog though, she is adorable and I'm glad she is coming out of her shell. I know they can never replace a lost pet but they really do help add some happiness that otherwise wouldn't be there. I'm so glad you are back, I've missed you and was wondering if everything was okay! I enjoy all your posts so I'm glad you will be back!! <3

  7. I am so sorry, Melissa. I know the pain you are feeling. I lost my beloved Rex cat in the fall, he was 20 years old. He is still missed every day. We do have the new monster kitties now, they are helping fill that void. I am glad you found a new dog to help heal your heart, I think she needed you as much as you needed her. Big hugs to you

  9. I'm so sorry for your loss Melissa. Loving animals and losing them is so hard. We lost my dog porter this past summer and I had to take a break also wasn't feeling up for anything for months then my cat got hit by a car in Feb and that was beyond devastating, my 4 year old is still having a hard time over that one ):
I almost don't want anymore new pets at this point. I still have 5 cats.
Congrats on the new addition though, I hope she brings you some healing. I know our past pets cannot truly be replaced but it's always wonderful to give home to others for a chance of love and happiness

  13. I'm so sorry Melissa. It's so hard to lose them and I'm glad that you were at least able to be at home with him. That's how I've said goodbye to all my babies and it makes all the difference to me to be able to keep it as stress free and comfortable for them.

I'm looking forward to hearing more about *the princess* and I'm glad you found each other when you both needed it most.

  15. I'm so sorry for everything you've been going through! There are really no words for this. We still have our original furry baby (he's six, almost seven) and four others that came after him. I cannot imagine losing a single one of them. My husband is a vet tech, so he brought home animals that were no longer wanted (didn't want to pay the vet bills for treatment, wanted to euthanize for behavior and not necessity), and we've welcomed them into our home. We have quite the pack including our three kids!

Did you take on the princess and her babies, or did they find other homes? Just curious! We adopted a dog that was pregnant and then found homes for her little ones once they were older. *hugs*

    1. Thanks. Our vet gets his dogs in the same way too. :)

She came from a rescue so they dealt with her and her babies (she lost 1/2 of them sadly) and they adopted all her pups out. I got her spayed so no extra surprises. ;)

  21. I'm so very sorry for your loss, Melissa, but so thankful for your new gain. Losing a pet is always so hard. And I hear often how people don't plan to get a new pet immediately, but somehow it happens sooner than they think, and it's a bit of a help.

    Thank you for sharing.
