Entertainment Post: Netflix Series

It has been a while since I did one of these. With everything happening I did slack off from watching and binging but I'm slowing getting back to it. I did watch some of these before the holiday season so yea, some of this is probably old for some of you and you may have already seen many of these. Some of these series are actually quite short.

The Magicians S2
I wasn't sure about this one as I found the first season uneven, but I really enjoyed S2 and think the storyline came together better as well as the character development. I'm currently watching on SYFY channel for S3 as it comes out. So, if you didn't like S1, try S2 (but do watch in order).

Of course I saw Stranger Things S2
I also had my mom totally addicted to it and she couldn't wait for this season to come out (*little evil laugh*). Still love Wynona's character as supportive and "don't mess with my kid" mom. You also need to see this one for Steve! What a change! I didn't quite like the side-plot for Seven but I understand that was a failed attempt at a offshoot series. It didn't quite work and the season wasn't quite as tight as the first one. Still enjoyable. I also liked the ending but for a series that is continuing, it felt odd to me. As if the ending was with S2. Still, I did like how it came together. If you haven't seen it yet, don't skip S1.

The Defenders
Yea, I do like the Marvel Universe on Netflix and while this isn't my fave, I was happy to see Jessica Jones and Luke Cage together.. sorta. The weakest link is still the Iron Fist, but hopefully they will start to flesh out his character a bit more. Even though this has gotten lukewarm reviews it is still fun to watch.

Alias Grace
This one really peaked my interest. It did take me a couple of episodes to get into it and then I was hooked. However, the ending was so frustrating. For those of you who don't mind open endings where you don't get definitive answers, this is for you. For me, it was quite frustrating. I do get the creative angle to that ending, but GAH! LOL No, I'm not telling what it is in case you want to see it for yourself. Seriously, it was creative but frustrating.

Lastly, Anne with an E
I admit I had a bit of trouble with this one at the very beginning, but it didn't last long. It was my fault and I kept my ideal Anne with the Megan Fellows version. Even with my trepidation, the series really caught my attention in the end and I eagerly await the second season.

Okay, now that I've listed a few, do you have any to recommend? Also, I'm not remiss in seeing what day I posted this one on...
...let the jokes commence! 💘

    1. Inuyasha! I still love that one. :) With Stranger Things it took me a couple of eps to get into it at first but then I really liked it.

  4. I tried the first season of The Magician and couldn't get into it, good to know it does get better. I love Stranger Things! I haven't finished season two yet but I'll get there.
I've been so curious about Alias Grace, I'm not sure about that open ending though. I may hold off on it. ;)

    1. Yea, the first season of the Magicians wasn't great, but since I liked some of the characters I stuck with it. It is better the second season. S2 of Stranger Things wasn't my fave, but still fun. That ending of Alias Grace... ugh. All I will say. :D

  5. I didn't love the Seven detour but I did like S2 of ST's. I have no idea where it's going though.

  7. I want to see Strange Things, but don't have an opportunity yet. Don't like opening endings which is a shame cause Alias Grace looks good

  8. I actually haven't watched any of these! LOL I think the last show I really "binged" if you will was Mindhunter, which I did love. I still need to finish season 1 of Jessica Jones - Yeah, I'm way behind on that one, but I love her - so that I'm ready for season 2.

  9. I watched one episode of Alias Grace and was mildly intrigued. I'll continue one of these days. And I agree about Season 2 of Stranger Things, I did not care for that Chicago story line.

  10. I've only watched Stranger Things - that's interesting to know about Seven because my family and I were all... what? why? I hope they have Elle and the gang together more for Season 3.

    1. I did like the gang but it just didn't quite flow with the storyline. I also hope they aren't dropped (I mean they are now part of the universe) but make a bit more sense in the scheme of things.

  14. Stranger Things 2 I really liked, I thought it was a smidgen better than S1? Although the ending- felt a little rehashed? The defenders I thought was just okay (and I was REALLY looking forward to that one) . I am excited for Jessica Jones 2 tho. The Magicians S2 I still need to watch...

  15. Haven't watched The Magicians yet. I have been binge watching a lot of international series. They really write the most intriguing mysteries and thrillers. I get so into them that I forget I am reading subtitles. I watched an eight part series all in one day last week called No Second Chance written by Harlen Coben. I had read it years and years ago. So good. French. Wallander is really good and me and my two sisters all loved it. It's in English. Shetland was great. It was in English too. Retribution was really good-in French I think. Dark was really good. And so was The Five. Harlan Coben wrote it and it takes place in England. The Fall takes place in Ireland and it was excellent. Serial killer stuff. I could go on and on. But I won't!

    1. If you try Marvel, do try Jessica Jones. I don't think you need to know much about the world to get into that one. Curious to know what you'd think about Alias Grace.

  17. Thanks for this post. I need new shows to watch since my current fav "Once Upon a Time" has been cancelled. *Sobs* I'm still catching up on Marvel shows. I'm half way into Jessica Jones Season 1 and I don't think I can digest all the violence in Punisher so I'm going to skip that one.

    1. I couldn't get into Once Upon a Time. I was going to try it later. I though it was ended and not cancelled. Sorry! The Punisher wasn't too bad (I mean for what we know about him) and I think that Dare Devil (all seasons) were much more violent for some reason. *shrug* Jessica Jones is still my fave.

  21. I love Stranger Things too, so good. I actually watched Alias Grace twice, I want to read the book. I think it ended that way since it was based on a true story and they never really found out exactly what happened.
    enjoy your weekend!

    1. Okay, now I'm curious. I didn't think it was based on a real story. So looking that up now. LOL Thanks!

  22. I'm not a big series-watcher. I mean, I'd love to be, but I always get tired of them and end up giving up after the 5th or 10th episode. Whoops. The only series I've ever completed was FRIENDS, and a few Japanese/Korean dramas. XD

    1. Eh... he was okay. It doesn't quite work for me and I think they are forcing it. It might work as they go and develop his character more. I think it would have been better if they just developed it more in the way people wanted it to be developed. I did like his sidekick more though.
