Throwback Thursday: Scarlet

Meme hosted by Melissa My World in Words and Pages. It's about books that are already on the shelves and are waiting to be read. Go to her website to join in!
My submission this week:

Scarlet
by A. C. Gaughen
292p.
Publisher: Walker Childrens
Many readers know the tale of Robin Hood, but they will be swept away by this new version full of action, secrets, and romance.

Posing as one of Robin Hood’s thieves to avoid the wrath of the evil Thief Taker Lord Gisbourne, Scarlet has kept her identity secret from all of Nottinghamshire. Only the Hood and his band know the truth: the agile thief posing as a whip of a boy is actually a fearless young woman with a secret past. Helping the people of Nottingham outwit the corrupt Sheriff of Nottingham could cost Scarlet her life as Gisbourne closes in.
It’s only her fierce loyalty to Robin—whose quick smiles and sharp temper have the rare power to unsettle her—that keeps Scarlet going and makes this fight worth dying for.
I have the second coming up for review and I'm so glad I have this one... yes, I plan to read in order! :D I can't wait to dive into this series.

Any first in a series books on your tbr?

  1. I basically promised myself I'd stop reading retellings altogether. They just never work for me, no matter how hard I try. Cruel Beauty was my last disappointment.
I've heard good things about this, but I know it's not for me.

    1. Some people hate retellings, but I love them. I just like to see what people do with stories we "know". :)

  2. I know most readers really enjoyed this but it didn't click with me for some reason. :/ I adore the covers, though, and can't wait to see what you think, Melissa. Perhaps I'll even go back and re-read this one to see what I missed!

Reading lots of mixed reviews of this, I look forward to reading your review.

    1. Aw... I'm sorry you got rejected. If I had a dollar for every time they rejected me... well, I'd have a lot of dollars. :D Hope you do get the second book.

  6. Definitely read in order Melissa! You'll be thoroughly confused if you start with Lady Thief. I LOVED Scarlet so so much, but Lady Thief nearly destroyed me. In a good way, but I was an emotional mess I tell you. A MESS! Can't wait to see what you think!

  16. Oh this is on my list to read, but I don't actually have it, surprisingly. I read Will in Scarlet, another take on the Robin Hood theme and loved it. I have a feeling I would love this one. Definitely gotta read this one!
