The Accidential Werewolf (Accidentally Friends #1) by Dakota Cassidy

Series: Accidentally Friends #1
326p.
Publisher: Berkley
Available Now
Source: tbr pile
When Marty Andrews gets bitten by a mangy mutt while walking her teacup poodle, her blond hair darkens, the hair on her legs starts growing at an alarming rate, and her mood swings put her dream job as a sales rep for Bobbie-Sue Cosmetics in serious jeopardy.
Then a drool-worthy man shows up at her door claiming that he accidentally bit Marty. And since he's a werewolf, she is now, too. Thinking Keegan Flaherty is clearly insane, Marty refuses to believe a word until a kidnapping makes her realize there's more at stake than just her highlights. And she must put her out-of-control life in the hands of the man who makes her blood run wild in more ways than one...
My thoughts:
Okay, I got the newest edition of this series for my review pile. I had #1 on my pile, so I still may not completely read in order, but at least I do have the introduction to many of the characters down with the first book! I've been wanting to read this series so I was happy to dive in!

I do love humor PNR and so I just knew I would enjoy this book. Plus, if anyone has the pleasure of reading Dakota Cassidy's social media posts, you knew she had a great sense of humor. I was not disappointed. :)

In the beginning I admit I did worry. Marty was someone who, at first glance, could really get on my nerves. She seemed shallow and a bit too pert and perfect. However, that lasted for about half a second before we really started to get to know Marty. While it did take a while to know her, it didn't take me long to know I would enjoy this character. Oh and speaking of characters... LOVED Nina, a secondary character and Marty's friend. You need snark? Nina has it in spades.

I give this book 4 stars. It has everything I enjoy: snark, humor, good secondary characters, swoony guy, and character growth. Oh and can't forget Muffin... the teacup poodle with an attitude. :) This was a good first book in introducing these characters. I will read them all! :)

  1. I haven't heard of this one but I really enjoy both paranormal and werewolves in particular, so I'll have to look into this one. Thanks for sharing, Melissa!

  2. Muffin? *snort* I'm a sucker for books with dogs (especially dogs that add to the humor) and Cassidy's books always have that perfect amount of sassy snark.

  3. So glad you liked this one, Melissa. I, unfortunately, couldn't get into the story and Marty annoyed me.

    1. I liked her more toward the end. She really showed her non-selfish side and some growth.

  4. Is it weird that I'm most excited to meet Muffin? The other characters all sound great, particularly Nina and her snark, but any time there's a mention of an animal sidekick or pet with an attitude and it's all I can focus on. HERE I COME MUFFIN!

    1. Yes! You know I loved Muffin too. LOL It also sounds like the dog is in most of the books. We will have to find out.

  7. I loved the first three books but at the end I was tired of the series and as I was disappointed by one I gave up.

  8. Those snarky secondary characters are often game changers, especially when you're struggling with the MC just a bit. I'm glad Marty turned out better than you thought.
I'll be reading this soon, I hope.
    Great review.

  10. I saw Dakota Cassidy speak on several panels during AAD 2012 and she brought the house down for each one. She is HYSTERICAL!

I've read one of her other books but I have been wanting to start this series.

  12. I don't like shaky beginnings. Like you I begin to wonder if I'm even going to like it or if it will get better. I'm glad it all worked out. Nice review.

  15. I also love humor in PNR, and this sounds wonderful. I think I'll like Marty, but probably NIna will be my favorite character from the sound of it. :-) Thanks for introducing me to this!
