Fun/Weird Things in the 'Net...

You know the scenario... you are using your ereader wondering what is missing. Suddenly it occurs to you! You miss the smell of the book right in front of you! The old nose just isn't picking up what is needed to completely enjoy the book sensation. That is why someone created... Smell of Books!

Their blurb:
Does your Kindle leave you feeling like there’s something missing from your reading experience?
Have you been avoiding e-books because they just don’t smell right?
If you’ve been hesitant to jump on the e-book bandwagon, you’re not alone. Book lovers everywhere have resisted digital books because they still don’t compare to the experience of reading a good old fashioned paper book.

But all of that is changing thanks to Smell of Books™, a revolutionary new aerosol e-book enhancer.
Now you can finally enjoy reading e-books without giving up the smell you love so much. With Smell of Books™ you can have the best of both worlds, the convenience of an e-book and the smell of your favorite paper book.
Smell of Books™ is compatible with a wide range of e-reading devices and e-book formats and is 100% DRM-compatible. Whether you read your e-books on a Kindle or an iPhone using Stanza, Smell of Books™ will bring back that real book smell you miss so much.
It also comes in several "aromas":
At least they are concerned for your safety. Just check out the warning page:

I don't know about you, but if you have a Zune, you are in trouble anyway... ;)

Also... for those not feeling VD that is coming up (thought you might like my little acronym for the day... lol) but are still feeling crafty... I give you:
Poor wittle guy. Anyway, if you do embroidery or knows someone with a machine, get this guy at Urban Threads. At least it will make you smile. ;)
...and one last fun item...

...and last, but most certainly not least I won a few awards...
First is an award I had received before from the sweet Tribute Books Momma
Since I had received this I will not pass it on, but I did want to recognize it!
Second... I received:
The sweet Blodeuedd gave this one to me. Her blog is The Book Girl from Mur-y-Castell
This is what this award means:

Congratulations, you’ve won the honor of being Worth Your Weight in a ‘Gator Battle!

The award was created in honor of (at least according to them) the real stars from “Alien Tango”. No, not Katherine “Kitty” Katt or Jeff Martini. Alliflash and Gigantagator, Alligators Extraordinaire!

The “Worth Your Weight in a ‘Gator Battle Award” is only given to the wily, the brave, and the cheeky, so get down with your bad self, you’re deemed worthy to run with the A-C’s!

Now you get to spread the awesome by nominating other bloggers who would also be worth their weight in a ‘gator battle. Battling ‘gators is not for sissies or wimps -- only the strong survive -- so choose wisely!

Your mission details:
  1. Slap the graphic on your blog post.
  2. Give link props to the person who gave you the award (don’t rile a ‘gator fighter -- it’s dangerous).
  3. Spread the awesome and nominate five (5) other bloggers who you think will be worth their weight in a ‘gator battle.
  4. Let the recipients know they’ve won this honor on their blogs.
  5. Last but not least, shoot Gini Koch an email at gini@ginikoch.com and let her know you’re worthy of running with the A-C’s (put “Worth My Weight” in the subject line!) by sharing that you’ve been nominated and telling her which other bloggers you nominated, and she’ll enter you into the “Worth Your Weight” Contest. Keep reading to find out more details and what the loot is below.

Of course, you can choose to ignore your awesomeness, but then you’ll never have a chance to nab your own A-C or win the loot. And you know you want both.

Contest runs from Wednesday, February 1, 2011 through Monday, February 28, 2011.

Details are found on Gini Koch's site HERE

My nominations:
Stephanie from the Misfit Salon
Missie from the Unread Reader
Jenny from the Supernatural Snark

  2. HUH?!? New book smell?!? So I am going to be honest, but I have no idea what people are talking about when they talk about book smell whatsoever. When I was reading I am usually go engulfed in it that all my attention is focused on it (and not on sniffing my books/ the smell which may be wafting off of them)... ;)

What will they think if next?! New book smell... Genius!

Congrats on your award, and thanks for passing one on to me. I have yet to read Alien Tango, but I've heard good things.

  4. Really? Smell of books spray? I don't know that I could adequately define the smell of books well enough to condense it into one fragrance. I kinda want to buy it just to see what it smells like:) Congrats on your wins and thanks so much for nominating me!

  7. Oh that book spray is hilarious! I keep finding myself going to the used book store instead of buying on my Kindle -- does that make me bad?

  8. @Steph... glad you liked them. :)
@Avery... and I'm not sure if it is real or not. The cat version made me laugh.
@Missie... check out the other scents. ;)
    @Jenny... lol
@Blodeuedd... well, it's good before you take it out for a spin.
@Mel... your Kindle has a nose?!
@Pretty... na... I do that more than I buy ebooks still. :)

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned the embroidery. I guess the cynicism isn't as big as it was the last time I did a VD post. I had a poll and most said the holiday was driven by economics. lol

  9. Thank you for your vote of confidence, Melissa. I am so inspired that I am heading to the Everglades the first moment I get as I have nothing to fear now from those dreaded Gators!

And I am so buying that new book smell - but not the crunchy bacon one since I would get much too hungry with that in the air.

  10. OMG that is so funny. Eau You Have Cats..lol. Don't they have one for, I'm hungry in chocolat, but I can't eat it, so I'm going to smell it. ;)

LOL! Thank you so much for passing this on to me. :) I'm working on the post now. I just have to come up with 5 people. Although you would have been one of the 5 if you wouldn't have passed it to me. ;D

I'm so glad you mentioned it again. I stopped by over the weekend but didn't get a chance to leave a comment. But I wanted to stop back tonight to pick this up. :) Thank you!!!!
